Who is Wouter Kingma? I’m an artist, a photographer, an author, a producer and an adventure junkie. I wear many hats within the creative industry and love getting called upon with new ideas and cool concepts. They all seem to overlap. They all seem to tell stories. That’s what it’s all about really. Storytelling with different media but photography will always lie at the heart of all that I do.
I’ve been nestled in Dubai for a dozen or so years and I love it. I’ve evolved over the years and now, thanks to a combination of luck, hard work and wonderful opportunities, have a thriving business doing what I know, doing what I love.
I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a team with incredible talent. Together, we create and deliver amazing productions, whether books, photo gigs, exhibitions, art installations or our very own webstore, ArtOnTheMove.me. We’ve won a good few awards, which confirms we’re heading in the right direction.
Adventure plays a starring role in all my projects and pretty much reflects on how I approach business. Having drive, being energetic, always pushing the envelope… a good adventurer needs these, as does anyone who wishes to create iconic content.
My work gets valued regularly by brands like Nike, Ferrari, Bentley, Audi, The North Face, Salomon, Red Bull, Canon and selected government bodies. I started blogging in 2009 and now five years on, my blog has become a source of inspiration, knowledge, images and stories. As I said, everything boils down to storytelling. Recently, I’ve been producing more ‘behind the scene’ videos. They’re a great way to share the love for what we do.
I wear my Canon Middle East brand ambassador hat with great pride. With my #WOUTERINFOCUS, I’m feeding their half million+ online photo community with ideas, a nod and an occasional kick under their but. We all need this… it keeps us growing, forever evolving.
When I can, I love to head out to the mountains, to clear my head, go for a run or simply hang my hammock from a tree. Quality time in nature feeds me with ideas, fuels me with creativity and is the world’s best therapy to combat a hectic schedule. To support our natural resources, I’ve committed to one percent for the planet, which means that one percent of my annual revenue is donated to an environmental cause. We’re proud to support the Wadi Wurrayah project managed by EWS-WWF… for today and tomorrow of course, but more so, for our kids. They too deserve an amazing world to play in.
